About Hamish Alexander

Hamish AlexanderHamish Alexander went to Edinburgh School of Art after leaving school, reading ceramics and painting.

After 'Foggy Bell' won the Lincoln, he left to pursue his other love - racing - and ran his own stud farm, selling the winners of the English, French and Irish Derbys, as well as two Irish 1,000 guineas, an Irish St Leger, and a King George VI winner.

A lover of jump racing, he trained in a small way under National Hunt rules in Yorkshire, until he was approached by Goffs Bloodstock to select their yearlings for their sales.

This gave him the opportunity to draw and paint for the first time since leaving Edinburgh. He works at all the major bloodstock sales, mainly for BBA Ireland.

Hamish had a one man exhibition in the Grassmarket, Edinburgh. He is a big fan of Hockney and all the Fauves painters for their colour, and of Marc Chagall and Rousseau for their humour.
